The wait is over and the Evasi0n has released their iOS 6.x jailbreak for the iPhone and iPad. We no longer have to conform to Apple’s strict rules and can customize our device at will.

Performing the jailbreak is very simple. All you need is a computer with Linux, Mac OS, or Windows. Download the tool here, connect your device, wait for the button to un-grey, and sit back as the tool does almost all the work for you in a matter of minutes.

Evasi0n does recommend that you stop all activity while the jailbreak is being performed and quit all Apple related programs such as iTunes. You’ll also need to make sure that you turn off the passcode lock on your device if you’ve enabled one because your phone will reboot several times during the process.

There’s only one thing you’ll have to do during the jailbreak process. After the first reboot, you’ll be prompted to unlock your screen and press the Jailbreak app that has been added to your screen. Locate that app and press it only once. After you’ve done that, you’re good to go and the tool will complete the rest of the process.

There has been reports of Cydia running slowly because of the huge amount of traffic. You’ll even see a notice on the Cydia home page. I, personally, have not had any issues, but Cydia promises that the issues will be resolved soon and to be patient. Cydia is really just a web browser for jailbroken apps and each app is a third party page. Check out some of our favorite Cydia Apps!

I know I’m pretty stoked that I could finally jailbreak my phone, what about you guys?
