The Pantech Discover Vs. The Sony Xperia TL – Two Sleek, Sexy And Cool Phones

Of course, coolness is a factor when you’re looking into buying a new mobile phone. We all want cool phones that look good on our desks and impress our friends. But we have to look at other things as well. For example, today’s two phone picks are both equally attractive. We’re looking at the Pantech Discover and the Sony Xperia TL, both of which are dark, smooth and handsome. So how exactly are we supposed to choose between them? Fortunately, they’re not just pretty faces, since they’re pretty feature laden and reliable too, but still, we need a way to choose between them. So we put them to the test, head to head, to find out how they compare and what their differences are.

They’re both Android devices, running the 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich  version of the operating system, and they retail for similar prices with most mobile service operators. So if you want to know which of these two models comes out on top, you’re going to have to keep reading to find out which one gets out seal of recommendation…

guest postWhy You Should Buy the Pantech Discover…

The Discover has a few slim advantages. Firstly, it gets faster maximum data speeds. In general, faster data speeds mean quicker downloads and faster opening of web pages. The Discover also has the larger screen, measuring in at 4.8 inches over the Xperia’s 4.6 inches. That might not seem like a huge difference, but when you’re web browsing or reading emails, every little bit helps. Finally, you get much better Bluetooth support on the Discover, which is equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 rather than the older 3.0 version on the Xperia. If your frequently connect via Bluetooth to devices such as hands free, the newer version means that you get faster data transfer and that your phone uses less battery power when connecting to devices.

However, the Xperia has a few things going for it too. First up, it has the better display, even though it’s not quite as large. The display on the Xperia has two and a half times higher resolution as well as eighty per cent more PPI (pixels per inch), meaning that the picture quality is better, brighter and sharper than that on the Discover. Plus, you get a slightly better camera on the Xperia too. The Xperia is equipped with a full 13 MP in built camera, whereas the Pantech gets just 12.6 MP, so photos taken using the Xperia are slightly better quality and a little more finely detailed.

Which One Should I Buy?

These really are both great phones, and choosing between them is quite tough. We do like the bigger screen on the Discover, since bigger is usually better. However, the better screen quality on the Xperia is what really wins us over. But we honestly wouldn’t be disappointed with either of these great looking handsets, although the Xperia just edges out to be the winner of our competition.

Phil Turner understands that some people want cool phones, though personally he is more interested in functionality than appearances.
