The Last Door, by The Game Kitchen, is an episodic horror adventure based in England during the late 1800’s. You investigate an old manor in unique low-res style graphics as you try to unravel the mystery behind what’s going on.
The soundtrack to this game is amazing. I want to give a huge kudos to the composer (Carlos Viola), he did an amazing job.
The most unique aspect to The Last Door is that it’s completely free to play and they run off of a system of donations. I guess you could call it a simpler crowdfunding system. With the support of over 600 donations, they’ve been able to release 2 chapters.
You’re not going to get the best graphics playing The Last Door, but you will get an immersive story line and a great atmosphere. Make sure you play with headphones on to get the best experience.
You don’t need a hyped up computer to play this game as it runs in your web browser. All you’ll need is a device that supports Flash Player v.11.7 – which includes Android devices. They have plans for making this game fully compatible with smartphones in the future, and the best way to support this is to donate to their cause.
Chapter 2 was made available June of 2013 and they have plans for Chapter 3 to be released in September 2013 (For premium subscribers) and November 2013 for free. You can actively take part in the development of the game by visiting their forums and discussing the game there. They plan on continuing this player interaction to improve the game and allow players the opportunity to get featured in the game’s credits.
