VirZOOM Competitions – VR Biking On A Real Bike In A Virtual World
Yes, you read that correctly. No, I can’t believe it either.
VirZOOM is brought to you by a group of award-winning AAA veterans who are trying to bring the together fitness and gaming while also selling really expensive equipment. Featuring an exclusive bike at a MSRP of $399.00 (not including the cost of the VR headset), VirZOOM comes off as an expensive alternative to real world exercise.
Teaming up with FitBit, AMD, and HTC Vive, the first ever “vSport” competitions will be held at various venues in the US March 17-March 19.

At first, I have to say that I wasn’t impressed by the concept. It’s a slight step up from the bikes in the gym with the TV sets. What sets this piece of equipment off from normal gym equipment are the games that you can play while fully immersed in a different world.
After watching this video I can say that my opinion has changed to err on the more positive side. (Courtesy of Kevin LaSean. Subscribe here)
The concept seems fun and I can see why it would be desirable, but I put this in the same category as those fad treadmills with the overly fit actors that clearly didn’t get their physique by using the equipment they’re trying to sell.
I think I’ll still to my $20 gym membership and work out the boring way.
