Weekend Recap – Nostalgia and Zombies

Weekends are for gaming. What did you play this weekend?

Toki tori 2+ – PC

After the Switch release, I had to play this one again. Should I be embarrassed to admit that I had to use my own guides to make it through some of the game?

There have been some improvements since my last play around. I approve of them all – great job. Toki Tori 2+ is still be one of my favorite puzzle games to date.

Radiation Island – Switch

I’m about 10 hours in and I’ve barely left the beach. I’ve found where the crocs live. The level of anxiety I get when the sun goes down and I’m no where near shelter worries me. I keep hunting wolves for leather, but I think the wolves are actually hunting me.

There are some games where I’m really into just gathering and crafting stuff. Mindless interaction with inanimate objects is a peaceful way to waste some time. I’m not sure how I feel about this one yet, especially because there’s minimal instruction. It took me half an hour to figure out how to make the furnace work only to find out that it had been working the whole time and I had to wait for the finished product.

The backpack upgrading is driving me insane. Why are there so many things to harvest with no space to put them?

Why are there zombie people but not zombie animals? How are the zombie people and the non zombie animals living together harmoniously? If I were to act like an animal, would the zombies then not attack me? Hello? I need answers.

I also don’t understand why I have to leave the beach. I’m having a great time fishing and hunting. I’ve fixed up my little cottage with a table and some chairs. This could be a nice place to call home. Huh, did I just beat the game?

Tip: If you start to get motion sick, switch to third person POV. On the Switch, first person gets really disorienting.

Bingo – iOS

Don’t judge me. I fucking love Bingo. Storm8 makes the best mobile version out there. They had lots of free stuff this weekend. Stop asking so many questions.

Dungeon Defenders – PS4

Somewhere in between my mandatory long runs and a Harry Potter binge watching marathon I found time to completely hate this game. I liked it a few years ago on PC, but the PS4 version has me wishing I never picked it up again.

If you do play it, be ready for shitty lobbies, people who don’t know what to do when someone else joins their game, and a overall sense of self-hate for not quitting sooner.

Honorable Mention
Zelda: Breathe of the Wild – Switch

I had to mention it because I am not a finisher of games – and I did actually play around with it this weekend. I tried to finish some of the side quests, but I’m only left with the annoying ones. Calamity Ganon is defeated and I can add BoTW to the growing list of games I’ve taken the time to complete.
