Face Noir, by Mad Orange, is a point and click, cinematic investigation game where you take on the role of Jack Del Nero-an Italian private investigator tasked with the job to protect a young lady. As you try to figure out who the girl is, you find out just how corrupt man is and what lengths they go to try and bribe their own destiny.

The Black Thursday. That is how the press rechristened that October 24th, 1929, a day in which U.S. began to face the darkest years of his history: the Great Depression years. All the great values professed by this nation vanished within a couple of months, the American dream was dead and trust in God begun to shake.

Few years had been enough for people to show their real side: false, mean and, above all, open to bribery. But the one thing I would have never imagined is how far corruption had gone; so far that somebody would actually try to bribe God.

And now here I am, a gun barrel pointed at me, a corpse on my conscience, and a young lady to protect. How could this ever happen? How is it possible that everything has stemmed from a series of coincidences?

Do you believe in Destiny? …I don`t.

Face Noir is a very tastefully done adventure. The graphics are a dark grunge that set the mood for the entire story.  The cut scenes can tend to be a bit long, but are made up for in the puzzles you have to solve. You should be prepared to use your brain to figure out this one. I found myself getting stumped and having to back track quite a few times.

You will find the dialogue very fitting for the time period. A really cool aspect to the game is how well conversations and objects were scattered with little tidbits of history.

Different puzzles include lockpicking, connecting the clues, and searching for the right object to interact with. If you ever get stuck, there is a question mark in your inventory that you can click to point out all of the points you can interact with. This is the only hint you will get beyond the storyline.

If you like good investigative games, definitely give this one a try. You can order Face Noir for $15.99 (release date July 18th)
